2008 Capital One Bowl ticket info
What better way is there to ring in the New Year than getting tickets and
watching the 2008 Capital One Bowl in Orlando? This bowl game is held annually
on New Year’s Day, often lining up some of the best of the SEC against top teams
from the Big Ten. Wisconsin is the two-time defending champion, outlasting
Arkansas 17-14 last year and outpacing Auburn 24-10 in 2006.
Besides spending New Year’s in Orlando, fans who get Capital One tickets can
expect to get their money’s worth with hotly contested match-ups. Six of the
last eight games have been decided by a touchdown or less, including an
incredible battle and unbelievable ending in 2005 between LSU and Iowa.
Fans who had tickets to that game will never forget the exciting and improbable
ending they witnessed. LSU trailed by 12 points in the fourth quarter in Nick
Saban’s last game as the Tigers’ head coach. JaMarcus Russell, this year’s #1
pick in the NFL draft, came off the bench as a freshman and rallied his team
with two touchdown passes to Skyler Green. The second score gave the Tigers a
one point lead with 46 seconds to go.
After completing two quick passes, Iowa found itself on their own 44 with just
14 seconds left on the clock. In need of a miracle, Hawkeye quarterback Drew
Tate found one when he connected on a bomb with Warren Holloway for the winning
touchdown on the last play of the game. It was Holloway’s first and only
touchdown of his career as the Hawkeyes triumphed 30-25.
The Capital One Bowl has had many great college players over the years. Peyton
Manning led Tennessee to a 48-28 thrashing of Northwestern in the 1996 game,
winning MVP honors. Current Jacksonville tailback Fred Taylor helped Florida run
past Penn State 21-6 the following year, and Ronnie Brown was the difference
when Auburn muscled past Penn State 13-9 in the 2002 game.
Beautiful weather, memorable games and great players are all a part of the
Capital One tradition. Get your tickets today to the 2008 Capitol One Bowl.

The Wisconsin Badgers finished the 2007 college football season on a roll with
eight straight wins and a 2nd Place finish in the Big 10. Along the way the
Badgers ate up teams like Penn State, Illinois, and Michigan and finished their
Big 10 schedule with a 24-21 win over Iowa. With only a single loss to Michigan
marring their record, Wisconsin is one of the top teams in the country, ranked
#6 by the BCS. Running back P.J. Hill is a workhorse in this offense, scoring 15
touchdowns and gaining over 1,500 yards on the ground. Quarterback John Stocko
matched those 15 touchdowns to share the team lead and ended 2007 with a
quarterback rating of 150.3. Only Ohio State, playing in the BCS National
Championship, had a better record in the Big 10 than these Outback Bowl bound
Badgers.
The Arkansas Razorbacks punched their Outback Bowl tickets out in the SEC. In
fact, the Razorbacks claimed the SEC West title with a 7-1 record before falling
to Florida, another team headed to the BCS National Championship. Arkansas’ only
regular season losses came to teams ranked in the Top 10 in the country, LSU
(#9) and USC (#6). The Razorbacks boast of one of the few 1,000 yard running
back combinations in the country with Darren McFadden (1,558 yards) and Felix
Jones (1,058 yards). The Razorbacks are playing in their first New Year’s Day
bowl game since their 2002 appearance in the Cotton Bowl.

Past Capital One Bowl tickets info
2006 Capital One Bowl tickets are your invitation to Wisconsin head coach Barry
Alvarez's retirement party. The Auburn Tigers will be at Orlando, Florida's
Citrus Bowl Stadium on January 2, to face the guest of honor and his Badgers in
one of college football's oldest traditions. Formerly known as the Tangerine and
Florida Citrus Bowl, Orlando has been hosting a bowl game since New Year's Day
1947. Catawaba posted back-to-back shutouts to win the first two Tangerine
Bowls. The game has been known as the Capital One Bowl since 2003. Last year,
Capital One Bowl tickets treated college football fans with another coach's
going-away party and the most exciting finish of the bowl season. Trailing Nick
Saban's LSU Tigers 26-25 with only seconds remaining, Iowa quarterback Drew Tate
connected with Warren Holloway on a Hail Mail pass for the winning touchdown.
Saban was sent off to the Miami Dolphins with a heart-breaking loss. This year,
Tommy Tuberville's Tigers - with all due respect to Alvarez - will be looking to
spoil the party. Unbeaten last year, Auburn had four starters selected in the
first round of the NFL Draft. The effects could be felt early on. The Georgia
Tech Yellowjackets upset the Tigers in the season opener. Then, a tough loss at
LSU put a serious damper on Auburn's plans for a return trip to the BCS. But,
behind the emergence of running back Kenny Irons, the Tigers turned things
around, knocking off SEC rivals Georgia and Alabama to earn their berth in the
Capital One Bowl. In contrast to Auburn, Alvarez's Badgers stormed out of the
gates, winning their first five games, highlighted by a thrilling three-point
victory over the Michigan Wolverines. A disappointing loss to the Sun Bowl-bound
Northwestern Wildcats ended the Badgers' hot start and losses to Big 10 champ
Penn State and Outback Bowl-bound Iowa ended their BCS hopes. A three-time Rose
Bowl champion, Alvarez will be looking to go out on a winning note. But Auburn
won't go down easy. Tuberville's Tigers have won four straight and appear to be
peaking at the right time. It's the Badgers and the War Eagles in a battle of
the Big Ten and SEC. Don't wait any longer. Make plans to spend New Year's in
Orlando and buy Capital One Bowl tickets.
